Last year was another record-breaking year for Tesla, with sales increasing by 40%, resulting in over 1.31 million units sold. This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the pandemic, raw material shortages, and the conflict in Ukraine.
The situation is noteworthy as BMW's sales declined by 5% to 2.4 million units, while Mercedes-Benz's sales increased by 5% to 2.04 million units, and Audi's sales dropped by 4% to 1.61 million units.
In the electric vehicle segment, Tesla's dominance is complete, with the three German carmakers having sold only 483,200 units in 2022, which corresponds to just 37% of Tesla's sales.

For this year, Tesla estimates suggest that it will sell 1.8 million units, a number that will bring the American company very close to the top three German premium manufacturers.
Regardless, the future looks bright for Tesla, as it plans to launch the Model 2 and benefits from the new gigafactory in Mexico.
