Driving a car fulfills the need for movement, but under certain conditions it can also be a factor in improving people's psychology. The conclusions of a Fiat survey in Great Britain that included more than 2,000 drivers are indicative of the pleasure that driving continues to offer, but also the joy of travel in general. The research follows the activation of the interactive map Scenic Near Me: The Best Drives In The UK, which places particular emphasis on commuting with pure electric vehicles such as the FIAT 500, offering information on traffic conditions, available charging stations, points of interest, etc.
In the results of the survey, 78% of the sample stated that when traveling to a destination they prefer choosing the most beautiful route, even if it is not the shortest. In particular, 54% said that it is more important to travel via a route that offers opportunities for beautiful photos, even if it means a considerably longer drive in distance and time.
At the same time, longer routes and the open road are an opportunity to relax for 44% of respondents, while extremely important is the percentage (41%) of those who want to drive to destinations that have not been found before. On the contrary, reasons that can prevent the driver from choosing a beautiful and longer route are traffic congestion, autonomy anxiety and the "obligation" to talk to passengers.
The results are also interesting with regard to cabrio models, where two out of ten drivers prefer them over "closed" cars, while 30% declare that they are jealous when they see a cabrio with an open roof on the road.
Of course, the journey - especially with a cabrio like the 500 - is not only a pleasure for the driver, but also for the other passengers, with 56% of respondents stating that on beautiful routes they envy the passengers who enjoy the journey without the stress of driving . Greg Taylor, Head of FIAT and Abarth in the UK: "Our survey showed that drivers continue to enjoy - under the conditions - driving, but also that they especially love the beautiful routes that exist in our country. There is no better way to enjoy them than with an all-electric cabrio model like the FIAT 500. We know there are concerns about the range of electric cars, but thanks to the 500's long range of 320 km and with the possibility of fast charging in 35 minutes, drivers can enjoy the journey without stress, in total silence and seamless contact with the environment.”
The new, purely electric 500, emerged in 2022 as the most popular purely electric model of the Stellantis Group. It is the only model in its class that is available with three bodies: hatchback, cabrio and the innovative 3+1. Equipped with a 42kWh battery, it offers a range of up to 320km. in mixed conditions (WLTP), while it reaches 460 km. autonomy in urban conditions. At the same time, its charging system allows - in a suitable network - the recovery of 50 km of autonomy. in just 5 minutes, while in 35 minutes the battery can recover 80% of its charge.
