A few days ago, Renault officially announced that the Renault Espace in its sixth generation is changing its face, but not its character. The new Espace is expected to be an electrified model or possibly all-electric.
The first Renault Espace appeared on the market in 1984 and created the category of versatile cars , as it was the first production car of this category.
However, the memory that everyone remembers regarding the Renault Espace, takes us back to 1994. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the model, the French had a crazy idea, to create the Renault Espace F1.
The Espace F1 was based on the second generation model, and used the V10 engine from Mansell's Williams that had taken the world championship in Formula 1. The engineers of the French company did not want to reduce the power of the 3.5-liter engine.
The rear of the Espace F1 chassis was taken straight from the Williams FW15C car , while the bodywork was made of carbon fiber, weighing just 1,300 kg. Of course the Espace F1 was nothing more than a demonstration prototype and engineering madness from the folks at Renault.
